10 Things Before I Die

by Eve on January 23, 2012

This week, Ally from Two Normal Moms came up with this week’s Monday Listicle prompt: Share 10 things you’d like to see happen before you die. These are my 10, but there are many, MANY more things I’d like to see before I die.

1.) A Greener, Less-Polluted Planet
I’d love to see a world that isn’t filled with smog, pollution and global-warming.

2.) A Latino or Female President
With the election of Obama, I don’t think this dream is too far off. It might even be my little Handsome or my unborn baby girl. You never know! (Disclaimer: no, I’m not pregnant, Amy. Don’t start spreading rumors just yet.)

Who wouldn't vote for this face?

3.) My Great-Grandkids
Yeah, that’s right. I plan to live as long as I possibly can, which is why I’m starting the new Mama’s Hungry blog to focus on healthy eating habits. (shameless plug: Stop by and like Mama’s Hungry on Facebook to be notified when the new blog goes live!)

4.) A Cure for Cancer (ALL OF THEM!)

5.) The End of Childhood Starvation
I would love, LOVE to see this sonnavabeech called childhood starvation eliminated from the planet.

6.) The Opening of My Own Organic Bakery
Today it’s still a dream, but before I die I will see this happen one way or another. You can bet on that.

7.) The World With My Family
I’d love to travel the world with them, seeing everything from Disney World to the Grand Canyon to Paris at sunset.

8.) Myself at a Weight That I’m Not embarrassed to Share
I’m getting there. Down 3 lbs as of January 1…Can I get a woo hoo?

9.) All My Children as Happy and Healthy Adults

10.) Hubby and I Retired, Drinking Iced Coffee on the Front Porch
Most people would say they’d be drinking iced tea. But that just isn’t us. We’ll still be chugging iced coffee even when we’re wrinkled and need mittens to hold the cups. Ya heard!

What would YOU like to see before you die? Link up with my fellow Washingtonian, Stasha for Monday Listicles and share your pants off.

Peace,

There sure are a lot of front porches and coffee in people’s dreams this week.
Mine too.
I love your list – especially the traveling with your family part.

I’m with you on every. single. one. of these.

But the weight thing? It reminded me of a pin I saw yesterday that I’m totally going to start doing. Today.

Check it out (and it’s not my pin so I”m not even self-promoting!):

I keep toying with the idea of a coffee shop, where I’d cook one thing, and that’s what we’d sell that day, and I’d operate a used book store from the space, and it wouldn’t be tremendously pricy, so people would just “hang out” there.

It would take over my life, this I know, and because of that, it’s but a pipe dream, but it’s still fun to think about.

That sounds like a cool place. I’d totally hang out there, but you’d have to give me free coffee and that might affect your profits. ;-)

My idea for an organic bakery is a dream for now, but I’m giving myself 5 years to make it happen. I know it’ll be a big life change for us, but life is about taking risks. I don’t want to look back at my life and wonder what it would’ve been like to own my own business or bake for a living. The first step in making this dream a reality is to move my family to a more affordable city where we can actually save some cash for said dream. The house is for sale, we just need a buyer. Cross your fingers. And toes too!

I loved how you were able to find just the right pictures to compliment your things. Your daughter… what a cutie! I’d vote for her! Congrats on the weight loss! That takes some hard work. You are the second or third one I have seen write end childhood starvation… makes me think. Why haven’t we? Really, with all the advancements we have! Now I’m frustrated (in a good way). Ahhhh retirement how close are we? Great list! -LV
